MANSFIELD, LA (KSLA) - A Mansfield, LA youth pastor is accused of sending sexually-oriented text messages to several juvenile members of his church.

25-year-old Adam Dewayne Carter is charged with three counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor.  Carter has been a youth pastor at Temple of Knowledge Church for five years.

According to information released by the Mansfield Police Department, the text messages are believed to have begun in November.  An arrest warrant was obtained Tuesday morning.

More details emerged Tuesday afternoon, with the release of a statement from Pastor Reegis Richard.  The statement reveals that it was the church itself that discovered the alleged inappropriate texting and reported it to police.

"On May 4, 2011, I learned that Mr. Carter, who is also my brother, communicated via text message inappropriately with teenage young men who are members of the congregation.  We reported it immediately to the local authorities and are in full cooperation with them to complete their investigation. We immediately advised the local authorities of that information as well.  We had no prior knowledge of any misconduct by Mr. Carter."

The statement goes on to say that Carter was immediately removed from his responsibilities at Temple of Knowledge and that he is no longer associated with the church in any way.

Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>
