East Texas woman details her experience appearing on Oprah

LANEVILLE, TX (KLTV) – Just two more episodes until the most successfully talk show host in history will hang up her microphone. An East Texas woman who actually appeared on Oprah's show in 1998 gives some details.

Ann Lock is a retired Laneville High School biology teacher. She was on Oprah's show back in 1998, during a segment called Oprah's Funniest Viewers. Lock and another teacher at the high school made a tape and sent it in, but they were not ready for what was to come.

"I was in class teaching and they called me on the phone, on the speaker. They said ‘Ms. Lock, you need to come down to the office.' I went to the office and she said the Oprah Show is on the phone," says Lock.

Oprah's producers told Lock that her clip was going to be on the show. She was in shock. The clip was scheduled to air during a basketball tournament at the school.

"We pulled out the TV and everybody gathered around between the tournaments going on in the gym and we videoed it. Taped it of course, so we have it for posterity," adds Lock.

The clip shows Lock dancing to the opening song of the Oprah Winfrey Show. Being such a big fan, Lock believes there is really no one who can fill the shoes left by Oprah.
