Caldwell Zoo unveiled its new $6.5 million construction and renovation project to the public Saturday.
"Zoofest" is a chance for everyone to enjoy the zoo free of cost, and to soak in the new attractions. What began as a tiny collection of animals more than 50 years ago, now boasts 2,000 animals representing 250 different species.
The project was fully funded by the Caldwell Foundation and includes a new entryway, animal hospital, animal holding bulidings and many new exhibits. This weekends "Zoofest" is the last chance to see the Caldwell Zoo for free.
Beginning Monday, for the first time, visitors will be charged admission.
Zoofest continues Sunday.
