Wills Point cleans up after storms slam downtown

WILLS POINT, TEXAS (KLTV) - A section of James Street in downtown Wills Point was still blocked, Saturday morning. Crews worked to clear pieces of the roof from the Rose Dry Goods building.

Utility crews also installed new phone lines which were taken out by the debris.

"Everything was just blowing and moving," said Carroll Moore. Moore owns a quilting store on the ground floor of the Rose Dry Goods building.

She said when the storm hit, brick and debris went flying everywhere.

Much of the roof of her building went flying into the downtown streets.

Moore said she saw the lady who was driving through the stop sign when a piece of the roof landed on the woman's car. Wind and debris also knocked down stop signs, utility poles and phone lines. Moore said she called 9-1-1.

Water went pouring into the second floor apartments above Moore's store. That water eventually soaked Moore's walls and carpet and some of her fabric. She showed us the holes in her ceiling from where soaked ceiling were removed.
