Meals on Wheels van delayed after big rig wreck

By Jamey Boyum

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - An 18-wheeler hit a van this morning, then kept going. The accident happened at the corner of Loop 323 and Robertson in front of Rudy's BBQ in Tyler. The van is owned by Meals on Wheels, and was just starting on its route.

According to Police, the truck was in the left lane, and made a right turn, clipping the meals on Wheels van with the front two wheels of its trailer. The van was in the right lane trying to turn the same direction. The truck continued north on the loop. The van was damaged so the meals had to be transferred to another vehicle before the driver could begin his route. He was delivering over fifty meals between Tyler and Quitman.

Tyler Police tell us the 18-wheeler was stopped at North Broadway and Loop 323 about an hour later. The driver claims he did not see the van and he had his blinker on. The driver of the van wasn't sure if the truck had its blinker on or not. The case has been turned over to a detective to determine if was a hit and run.
