Gentry Pkwy reopened after gas leak

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Tyler Police have confirmed a gas leak at the intersection of Gentry Parkway and Parkdale Drive in Tyler.

Both lanes of Gentry were closed from Glenwood to Martin Luther King from 5 and traffic was being redirected.

According to officials, contractors were digging horizontally underneath a sidewalk to replace a gas line, when gas started leaking out of a hole.

A section of Gentry began to bulge, and motorists were advised to avoid the area.

At 7:30 pm, crews with Centerpoint Energy shut off the gas, stopping the leak.

By 8:30 pm, all lanes of traffic on West Gentry were open and the gas leak had been repaired.
