Former UT Tyler Student Fights Expulsion

A former UT-Tyler student announced Wednesday he is challenging his recent suspension from school. 20 year old James Kyle Thompson was suspended after he was arrested last Thursday on an aggravated assault charge. He is accused of displaying what a female student thought was a gun and threatening her if she told on him for having alcohol in his on-campus apartment. Thompson is out of the Smith County jail on $20,000 bond. The former UT-Tyler soccer player also faces possible charges in connection with complaints from two other female students. UT-Tyler police say they are looking into even more complaints.
