Over the next few weeks, hundreds of US soliders serving in Iraq will come home for a two week vacation.
Wednesday, a young woman from Tyler returned home after spending nearly five months fighting in Saddam's hometown of Tikrit.
We were with her when she was reunited with her baby boy for the first time.
Jennifer McCurley hadn't seen her nine month old son Logan since he was four months old. She says she hated to leave her son in March but that she had to fulfill her duty as a solider. She says fighting the war on terror and liberating Iraq is something she had to do.
"I just want him to grow up and be happy. And I want to make this a safe world for him. That's why I do what I do," says Specialist Jennifer McCurley.
Jennifer will only get to stay in Tyler with her baby for the next two weeks. After that, she will serve for at least another six months in Tikrit.
