Funeral held for Mount Pleasant children

LONGVIEW,XT (KLTV)- An East Texas community turns out to remember two children, killed in a hit and run. A week ago Saturday, 4-year old Kameron Jones-Wheeler and 13-year old Jocelyn Roberts were hit by a car while leaving a movie theater in Mount Pleasant. Kameron died at the scene. Jocelyn, who tried to shield her 4-year old cousin from the car, died Wednesday at a Dallas hospital.

On Saturday, friends and relatives of the children met to say goodbye to these children. Hundreds came from all over Mount Pleasant and Pittsburg to the First Baptist Church, to show their sorrow for the loss of the 13 year old Jocelyn and 4 year old Kameron.

"It touches me to know that so many people have reached out , gives me hope," says Jocelyn's mother, Monica Roberts.

"It makes me feel fantastic to know that he was so loved that all these people came out to pay their last respects to a 4 year old," says Kameron's father , Bonnie Wheeler.

Many who came didn't know either family , but wanted to show their respect.

"Jocelyn was an angel and she touched every single one of us," says family friend Clayton Moore.

For family, today was about remembering the joy the children brought to their lives.

"I just want it to be remembered as this was a time of love, it was the ultimate love Jocie loved Kameron," Monica says.

And for some the knowledge that they will meet again one day.

"I don't believe its goodbye, I believe its I'll see you soon, I'll see you when we get to heaven," says Monica.

A separate funeral will be held for Jocelyn Roberts in Dennison, Texas on Tuesday. The driver of the car, 21-year old Edward Moya, is charged with manslaughter.
