Black Beauty Ranch invites public this weekend

MURCHISON, TX (KLTV) – An animal lover's paradise is opening its doors to the public this weekend.

Black Beauty Ranch in Murchison only opens to the public twice a year. This weekend is one of those times.

The ranch and the Doris Day Horse Rescue are hosting an open house on Saturday. The 1,300 acre rescue is home to more than 1,200 once neglected animals.

Included in the ranch's rescued animals are kangaroos, elephants, ostriches, and even horses saved from East Texas.

"The issue of horse rescue I think is an under recognized issue in the Unites States. There is a substantial number that are being rejected that are being starved," says Anne Favre, Director of Doris Day Horse Rescue.

All of the animals that have been adopted and those still up for adoption will be on display at the Doris Day Horse Rescue.

The open house is an all day family event.
