Some local police participating in Cops Crushing Cancer

TYLER, TX (KLTV) – Some local police officers are donating their time and effort to help raise awareness about cancer.

Tyler Police Officer Allan Crosby is one of a few people walking across Texas in Cops Crushing Cancer. This event is targeted at raising money to help East Texas cancer patients.

The walk began on April 1st in Cass County where Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana met. The walk ended Thursday in El Paso.

They were asking for pledges of one penny per mile, for 857 miles. Officer Crosby says that this walk is happening because cancer can't be taken lightly.

"We're trying to get the word out and let them know that it's not just bullets and car wrecks. Cancer is a mean way to go," says Crosby.

This is all in memory of the Crosby's sister, Jacqueline, who is a retired police officer who died in 2010 of colon cancer.
