This month's Community Spot shines on the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. There is some very encouraging news about the status of treatment for Cystic Fibrosis sufferers. That news is that patients are living longer and longer each year and it is so important to note that research is on the edge of a breakthrough that could lead to even better treatment, helping victims live even longer and more normal lives. In fact, 44 percent of all C-F patients are now over the age of 18 – meaning people are living longer with the disease. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation also returns donated dollars in significant numbers to the University Of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler for research and treatment. The Health Center has become a nationally recognized care center with a specialized wing for the care of Cystic Fibrosis patients. Locally, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has 4 four major events that raise funds and awareness each year, including the Great Strides Walk, the Cycle of Life Bike Tour, the 65 Roses Gala and the upcoming Breathe Easy Golf Invitational. You can help fight Cystic Fibrosis by participating in one of these events or just by giving to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. You can find more information on our website, KLTV dot com.
