14-yr-old girl leads Rusk Co. authorities on wild chase

TATUM, TX (KLTV) - A 14-year-old East Texas girl takes authorities on a wild chase, Wednesday evening.

Just after 6:00 pm, A Rusk County deputy was responding to a residence on County Road 2173 on a domestic dispute between a mother and daughter over the daughters cell phone being taken away for skipping school, when he was informed that the 14-year-old daughter had taken off in a vehicle.

When the deputy spotted the red Dodge Charger going the opposite direction on FM 782, he changed direction and attempted to stop the car.

The teenage girl refused to pull over, and a chase ensued. The 14-year-old girl led the officer down Hwy 43 to Henderson and back to Tatum at speeds of up to 100 mph before turning onto FM 1797.

She was weaving in and out of traffic, driving on the wrong side of the road at times and running stop signs as she tried to elude Rusk County authorities.

DPS was called to assist in the chase and troopers had to use spikes to bring the car to a stop on FM 1797 just after 6:45 pm.

The girl has been charged with evasion and is being held in Rusk County Juvenile Probation.
