BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 72-year-old Supply woman on drug charges, making it the third arrest of an elderly woman in about three weeks.

Sgt. April Stanley, spokeswoman for the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office, said Mary Lee Hargrove, 72, of Oak Shore Drive in Supply, was arrested Monday by agents with the Brunswick County Vice Narcotics unit.

She has been charged with three counts of trafficking opium or heroin, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of distributing controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hargrove received a $100,000 bond after a hearing.

Further details surrounding Hargrove's arrest were not immediately available.

On April 26, Stanley said Shirley Lee Prince, 64, and Cassie Floyd Dail, 73, were arrested for trafficking opium after authorities received numerous anonymous complaints about a home in Ocean Isle.

Agents seized $215 in cash and various medications including hydrocodone and alprazolam tablets from the home.

According to Stanley, Hargrove's arrest is not connected to Prince and Dail.
