Walkers Help Cystic Fibrosis Cause

Hundreds of folks gathered at Tyler's Bergfeld park this morning for the Great Strides Walk-A-Thon benefiting Cystic Fibrosis.

Parents, kids and even a few animals helped kick off the 5th annual event which raises money and awareness for those stricken with CF. Last year's event raised more than $172,000 for the east Texas region.

Those who participated say its the support from the community that makes this event so successful. "It seems like each year we get contributions that get higher and higher each time, and that's a wonderful for research and for this area," says Daelynn Williams, a parent of a CF child.

Walk participants raised money through sponsorships from family, friends and local businesses. The money raised will be used for the research and treatment of Cystic Fibrosis in east Texas.
