Mother pleads guilty to killing daughter

NACODOCHES, TX (KLTV) – Joy Faye Yates has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for killing her 3-year-old daughter, Kaylan Broumley.

In 2009, Yates told authorities that her daughter had suffered a severe head injury when she fell off a horse.

Anthony Roberts, Faye's boyfriend at the time, pushed her daughter which caused the injuries and eventually her death. Roberts plead guilty to the same charge and was also sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Kaylan's father, Rocky Broumley, says the sentence is not long enough.

"You know what you did," Broumley told Yates in court on Monday. He says he is just trying to move on with his life.
