NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Bullard man tried to sneak out of being arrested on a Nacogdoches County oilfield but got caught in some thick brush, according to Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerss.

Aaron William Groves, 34, is in jail on a Smith County warrant for aggravated robbery.

Kerss said his office learned from Smith County authorities that Groves was wanted on a felony warrant and he was working at an oilfield in the eastern part of Nacogdoches County. Deputies arrived on the scene to arrest Groves, Kerss said, but Groves tried to sneak off the scene.

"He was nonchalant about it a little," Kerss said. "He started to just ease off the site, and once he got to a ditch, he took off running."

Unfortunately for Groves, he ran into a thick forest area and had trouble escaping, Kerss said. Deputies did not have much trouble catching and arresting him.

The warrant for Groves stems from March when Groves invited someone to his apartment in Smith County and pulled a gun on him and robbed him, according to Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith.
