Women share their thoughts on Texas House's sonogram bill

TYLER, TX (KLTV) – Expectant mothers in Texas who choose to have an abortion will soon have to undergo a sonogram first with a new law only awaiting the Governor's signature.

The pending legislation is something Grace English, a leader of a faith-based abortion recovery group, has been tracking closely.

"It's something that we have prayed for years," said English.

English is a part of a group that helps women and families recover from abortion. She got involved hoping her experience could help others.

"Abortion just changed my life. Took years to get over, you know? Developing an eating disorder in college, I decided I was going to hang out with the wrong crowd," explains English.

Holly Morgan, an employee of Planned Parenthood, also feels that requiring a sonogram will make women's lives more difficult.

Under this measure, women must wait 24 hours after the sonogram before having an abortion. There is an exception for women living in rural areas.
