TYLER, TX (KLTV) – On Thursday afternoon, Tyler was preparing for their evening celebrations of Cinco de Mayo, a day recognized in the United States to celebrate the Mexican heritage and pride.
Some Mexican restaurants say they have been preparing for the event since early morning. In addition to food, some places are preparing a showcase of Latin music.
"It's become a big day in the US for the Mexican community and so we take advantage of that and come out and make a big party of it," says Mundo Villapudua, co-owner of Villa Montez.
Bergfeld park will be hosting a "Salsabration" on Sunday from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm. Congressman Louie Gohmert is scheduled to be there along with other elected officials.
