Student indicted for murder of Tyler teacher

Posted: Updated:

TYLER, TX (KLTV) – Byron Truvia has been indicted for the murder of John Tyler High School teacher Todd Henry.

Truvia has been in Smith County since he was first arrested nearly two years ago.

The case is still pending because Truvia was a juvenile at the time. He was never found fit to proceed to stand trial while his case was in juvenile court.

The state and defense are now waiting for a district judge to sign off on an order to have him committed to a state hospital.

Truvia's attorney, Jim Huggler, has also asked the court to continue representing his client.

The case is also waiting to be officially transferred to adult court.
