Released by The Henderson Police Department:
HENDERSON, TX - On April 30, 2011 at approximately 3:15 a.m. officers of the Henderson Police Department were called to the scene of an Aggravated Robbery located at the Fast Stop North at 101 Kilgore Dr. According to the initial report two suspects entered the store with faces covered demanding the opening of the store register. One suspect was brandishing a weapon and pointing it at the clerk in the store. While the armed suspect was pointing the weapon at the clerk the other suspect removed a small amount of cash from the register. After obtaining the cash both suspects left the store on foot heading west on Hwy 64.
Based upon the description that was given of the suspects and their general location, a deputy from the Rusk County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle that was westbound on Hwy 64 near the location of the robbery. This vehicle was stopped on N. Mill in Henderson and upon being stopped the passenger of this vehicle ran from the scene while the driver stayed behind. While officers from Henderson PD and the Rusk County S.O. were interviewing the driver a third man walked up to the vehicle's location wanting to know what was going on with his vehicle. Based upon evidence retrieved at the scene it was determined that this third person was an active participant in the robbery. A subsequent interview of this person confirmed this information as being a participant and he was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Rusk County Jail on a charge of Aggravated Robbery.
There were no injuries sustained by the clerk in this incident and no shots were fired at the scene.
This investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
