A Tyler man was killed Tuesday afternoon after the car he was driving rear-ended a Jacksonville school bus.
The accident happened on Highway 69, just south of Jacksonville in an area called "7 Mile Hill".
Authorities say 41-year-old William Scott Butler was travelling at a high rate of speed when he came up on the bus. The bus had just completed a stop and was gaining speed, but Butler was not able to control his speed and ran underneath the car.
There were more than 25 students aboard the bus, 13 were transported to local hospitals and later released.
The female bus driver was also treated and released.
No one on the bus was seriously injured.
