LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)- For a long time, no East Texas restaurant has been able to win one, but today a Longview restaurant was awarded a blue ribbon for excellence. Kevin and Julie Richardson operate the 'It'll Do Deli' at 707 Marshall Avenue in Longview, and have been serving up a simple recipe for success for the past two years.
"Keeping it simple is an easier way to keep it clean, you need to care about your job care about how you appear to customers treat everybody like you want to be treated so everything stays clean," Kevin says.
They are almost obsessed with cleaning. Over the past year they've scored perfect marks in every inspection, and today they were awarded the blue ribbon.
"Kevin and Julie congratulations on a great health inspection record, the it'll do deli has made a great imprint on Longview and for future and current customers congratulations," said KLTV general manager Pat Stacey , who presented the blue ribbon to the Richardson's.
"I really appreciate it, staying with the same concept really helped us a lot on that," Kevin says.
They are meticulous about every detail , so much so that in the two years they've been open , they've never received a critical violation.
"You don't let the restaurant business run you , you have to make sure you're having fun and don't work 24 hours a day at it," says Kevin.
They love what they do, and their customers have gotten the message and keep coming back.
