Red Cross volunteers warned of possible severe weather
Released by Red Cross.
EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - The National Weather Service (NSW) has issued an advisory that states that portions of the Dallas and Tyler regions are at "High Risk" for tornadoes Tuesday afternoon and evening.
This is a significant advisory. The NWS only issues a handful of "High Risk" advisories nationwide a year. The last such advisory was issued in North Carolina a few weeks ago prior to their tornado outbreak.
Red Cross has placed Waco and Austin and Houston damage assessment and shelter teams on standby to be prepared to come to our aid. Please review your own family and business safety plans. If unaffected, please be prepared to report for duty should the worst scenario occur.
As always, we hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
