Suspect arrested in connection with E. Texas library robbery

DAINGERFIELD, TX (KLTV) - Lavelle Hopkins, 19, has been arrested on an aggrevated robbery charge, after a library was robbed at gunpoint Monday morning.

Earlene Walton, a librarian at the library for over 20 years, opened up the Daingerfield library just after 8:00 this morning.

Shortly after opening, a man came into the library asking to use one of the computers. While Ms. Walton was setting up the computer for the man, he said he needed to get something out of his car and left temporarily.

When he returned he approached Ms. Walton's desk, where there was a money jar with donations for "Friends of the Daingerfield Library", pulled a gun a told her to give him all the money in the jar. The suspect said he would shoot her if she called police.

After Ms. Walton gave him the money, the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

Daingerfield police are not releasing any more information on the case because it is an ongoing investigation.
