Relay For Life Underway

The 5th annual Relay for Life, hosted by the Smith County American Cancer Society began Friday night in Tyler. The 12 hour event will come to an end Saturday morning at 7 a.m. More than 1,000 folks made up more than 60 teams of walkers and runners who participated in this year's event at the Robert E. Lee practice field. The relay raises money for the American Cancer Society, promotes cancer awareness, and offers hope for cancer survivors. Cancer survivor Zola Bailey said her goal was to, "Support those who have had cancer and those who may not have had it yet, to let them know there is hope and we're praying for them."

Teams compete for prizes in the categories of best theme, best campsite, best campsite food and who raised the most money for the American Cancer Society.
