Celebrating Earth Day with some “fresh” ideas

TYLER, TX (KLTV) – FRESH by Brookshire's celebrated their grand opening just over a month ago. Now they are celebrating Earth Day by demonstrating their parking for electric vehicles.

Joe Mac Johnson, Director of Environmental Services at Brookshire's says, "The customer will pull up, engage the charger and put the plug in the car. The car will begin charging. They'll go into the store and shop and then they'll come back to a charged car."

Johnson states that in a couple hours, this level two electric car charger can have drivers topped off in just a couple hours. There's only one level two charger, but there are level one chargers that take a little longer. All of these are incorporated into the stores original design.

"Supporting the people going green with your local business is wonderful. At least our technology is going in the right direction," says Chris Vanmeter of Peltier Chevrolet.

Brookshire's says that the charging stations are free to use and are available whenever customers need them.
