Tyler Police investigate robbery attempt

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Police say they have a strong lead on the woman who tried to rob a good Samaritan Wednesday night.

Sharon Carroll says she was pumping gas at a Valero gas station at Loop 323 and West Front St. when a woman approached her and said she desperately needed a ride. After Caroll agreed, it was only a couple of minutes in the car before the suspect said she had a gun and demanded money.

After driving for some time towards a deserted area, Carroll knew she was in trouble, and was threatened by the suspect before she could collect her thoughts. She told the suspect she was going to have to go to an ATM if she was going to give any money.

Once Carroll pulled the car up to the ATM, she jumped out of the car and demanded that the suspect get out. The suspect then got out of the car and fled the scene, and Carroll got away unharmed.

Carroll says Tyler Police were about to recover fingerprints from the woman from her vehicle.
