Domestic disturbance in E. Texas turns deadly

WINNSBORO, TX (KLTV) – A domestic disturbance left an East Texas woman with a gunshot wound and her estranged boyfriend dead.

Winnsboro Police say Danny Harvey fired three shots in his ex-girlfriend's front door from outside her apartment on Beech Street, before barging in and shooting himself.

"One of the rounds went through her leg and embedded into her apartment floor," explained Winnsboro Police Chief J.L. Miller.

Miller says Harvey then chased his ex into a closet.

"[He] stood over her with the gun. He said, ‘Don't worry, I'm not going to shoot you,' and she said, ‘You've already shot me,' and then he pointed the gun at his head twice, and then he pulled the trigger," Miller disclosed.

Police say Harvey was obsessed with his ex-girlfriend.

On Monday, Chief Miller says they met with Harvey and his ex to talk about previous instances of harassment, "She did not want to file any type of charges at that time, and that's the reason he was able to leave the police department."

A paramedic was at a nearby apartment and was able to help Harvey's ex-girlfriend.

She is out of the hospital.
