Rollover wreck leaves one dead in Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, TX (KLTV) - A Tyler woman was killed in a rollover accident near Chapel Hill.

The accident happened just before 7:40, Tuesday morning on Hwy 64 E. east of CR 289.

DPS reports that a 53-year-old, Pamela Lynn Ward of Tyler was driving eastbound on 64 when she lost control of the vehicle she was driving.

DPS officials tell us that while she was stopped at a light, just before the accident, drivers of vehicles around her noticed she was texting; honking at her when the light turned green to advise her that the light had changed.

After continuing through the light, at some point Ms. Ward lost control of the vehicle, hit one culvert then a second one and went airborne and rolled. It is not known if texting played a part in the accident.

Ms. Ward was wearing a seatbelt and was still ejected from the vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Meredith.
