Two Arrested In Probation Scam

Two ETMC employees are in police custody today, charged with falsifying probation papers. 34-year-old Doretha Wachelle Battee was arressted this afternoon in Tyler, charged wtih 15 counts of tampering with a government record. Also charged in the case is 41-year-old Carlos Bernard Lane. He was arrested yesterday and faces nine counts. Tyler police say, both are accussed of falsifying community service documents in exchange for cash. That's a felony, with each count facing up to 10 years in jail and a 10-thousand dollar fine. More charges are possible. ETMC says they both worked in a service area of the hospital and had no connection with patients. The hospital is also re-evaluating it's participation in this community service program.
