Autopsy results returned in Amy Cowling's jail death

Posted: Updated:

GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The results of the autopsy have been returned on Amy Cowling, the inmate who was found unresponsive in her Gregg County Jail cell back in December.

In an autopsy released to KLTV through an "open records request," it is stated that Cowling died from a probable seizure due to withdrawal from methadone and alprazolam.

Two jailers were fired and arrested following Cowling's death after an investigation revealed the two falsified jail logs.

Cowling was 33 when she died.
