UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) – The Gregg County evidence room is a treasure chest to an astonishing amount of loot. Officers say everything in the room was stolen by 45-year-old Edward Charles Lee.

Big screen televisions, laptop computers, power tools, guns, and thousands of dollars in jewelry.

Lee is suspected of burglaries in the Indian Rock Community and several in other counties. And investigators say he's been pulling the jobs impersonating a police officer, sometimes he was even caught by homeowners.

What's more, Lee wore a sidearm as he was burglarizing homes.

But he made a mistake, and a witness got his license plate number.

Officers recovered more than $30,000 worth of stolen property, but Lee could have been at this for months, and there's no telling how much more was stolen.

Investigators are just glad Lee is now off the street.

Lee is charged with burglary, impersonating a police officer and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He's being held on $150,000 bond, and on a federal detainer.
