Authorities seize 40 animals off Anderson Co. ranch

By Brett Collar

ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) – Authorities from Anderson County have seized more than 40 animals from an East Texas property.

The 130 acre property is off CR 349, just northeast of Palestine.

The Anderson County Sheriff says when they got to the property, they found between 15 and 20 piles of bones and deceased cattle. They also say there was no hay on the property and the grass was too short for any of the animals to eat.

Most of the remaining living livestock were moved to other locations.

Authorities are still trying to collect a few remaining horses and cattle that are still on the property.

A hearing will be held later this week to determine a permanent home for the animals who survived.

We're told authorities are still investigating, and the owner could face charges by the end of the week.
