Guest of honor will be TJC President Dr. Mike Metke, who has taken several international trips and initiated new programs at the college level.

"Dr. Metke's service project in Costa Rica is an exemplary travel/study project to advance global education and build bridges among countries," Khosrowshahi said. "His visit to Turkey in 2010 resulted in establishing faculty and student exchange program between TJC and Selcuk University in Turkey."

Metke served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica from 1966-68, completing projects that included a schoolhouse, road, soccer team and fund-raising and he returned to the region in 1983, 1987, 1999 and 2004 to confirm lifestyle improvements.

He gives special attention to International Education at the college's strategic planning to prepare TJC students for the future, Khosrowshahi said.

Represented during International Day activities will be more than 50 countries, including Australia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Chile, China, Costa Rico, Egypt, England, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea, Lebanon, Mexico, Nepal, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey and Yugoslavia.
