Area churches met in downtown Bullard Wednesday night for services in remembrance of 9/11 victims. State representative Chuck Hopson offered some words of reflection and encouragement to the crowd of about 75 people. He said, "Patriotism is remembering those who have given their lives in service for the country."
The coordinator of the event, Cyndi Adams with the Bullard Weekly News, said the goal was for East Texans to spend this time of reflection with family, friends and neighbors, "We should use it as an opportunity to gather together as a community to honor the American spirit and uplift each other. It broke our hearts and I think this is a good opportunity for us to come together for healing."
The God Bless America Picnic was hosted by the Bullard Weekly News.
