Bright And Charming Boy With Love To Share

Shane is a healthy, polite and well behaved 8 year old with a sweet personality. As he tosses a bowling ball, you can see having an afternoon of fun is right up his alley. This 2nd grader likes to be active and enjoys sports. "I like baseball. I like to be in the outfield because I don't like to bat very much," he says with a smile. "He's the kind of little boy that dads will want to go out and play baseball with in the yard. He's just a really neat little boy," says Kim Rhodes with Child Protective Services.

Shane has an inner drive to succeed. He does well in school and is on the honor roll. His favorite subject is math. "Cause I have a nice teacher and miss Kim taught me how to do math," explains Shane. He is a bright and energetic boy who makes friends easily. Rhones says, "He's kind of a leader in his age group. The other kids kind of follow him and do what he does."

But Shane has been through a lot in his young life. He was removed from his family two years ago. A day he remembers well. "I was in kindergarten. It happened right after school," says Shane with a sad face. "He's been sad for a while about not being with his family and he needs a family that will understand that and help him work through the loses that he's had in his life," says Rhones. Shane adds, "I'd like to trust and love a new family."

Adding to Shane's disappointment, he's been placed in six different foster homes. He hoping for a permanent home. "It's something I want really, really bad so I won't be lonely and all that and have brothers and sisters." Shane goes on to say, "So I'll have a family that likes me and loves me." It's a feeling this young boy hasn't experienced enough. He also needs to feel safe and know that his next family won't give up on him.

Shane wants to be a policeman when he grows up. With the Gift of Love, this young child will soon realize his dreams can come true.
