Longview Chamber accepting nominations for Business of the Year

LONGVIEW, TX - The Longview Chamber is currently accepting nominations for the 2011 Small Business of the Year awards featuring the Small Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Minority Small Business Champion of the Year, Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year, and Family-Owned Business of the Year. This year the Chamber has added three (3) new categories Minority Small Business Champion of the Year, Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year, and Family-Owned Business of the Year.
Currently, there are over 1,787,607 small businesses, according to the most current federal data available in Texas and which drives our state's economy, transformed their communities, created jobs and enabled people to realize their entrepreneurial dreams. It is through small businesses that we see innovation thrive and grow to become companies like Titanium Environment and Kirby Restaurant Supply (recipients of the Longview Chamber's 2010 Small Business Awards).
The 2011 Awards are based on business' related accomplishments as of December 31, 2010. The Chamber will be accepting nominations through Friday, April 15, 2011. Awards will be presented during the Small Business Membership Luncheon on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, just prior to the Longview Chamber of Commerce Business EXPO, opening to the public at 1:00pm.
Award winners benefit from the public recognition at the award ceremony and will be nominated on behalf of the Longview Chamber for the 2012 SBA Small Business Awards. Will you join us in celebrating our area businesses by nominating a business in one or more of the following areas Small Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Minority Small Business Champion of the Year, Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year, and Family-Owned Business of the Year? 2011 Nomination Criteria
The following are the recommended nomination criteria for the Small Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Minority Small Business Champion of the Year, Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year, and Family-Owned Business of the Year:
„h Nominee is a member in good standing with the Longview Chamber of Commerce
„h Nominee serves as a majority owner and operates or bears principal responsibility for operating a small business with a 3-year track record
„h Nominee has evidence of success as measured by sales and profits (backed by Profit & Loss Statements and balance sheets for the past 3 years)
„h Nominee's business has created employment opportunities
„h Nominee has developed and/or utilized innovative or creative business strategies
„h Nominee has demonstrated the entrepreneurial potential necessary for long-term business success and economic growth
„h Nominee is committed to social responsibility/community service
„h Nominee has overcome obstacles, challenges, or adversities

Who may submit nominations for this award?
Any individual or organization dedicated to the support of the small business community in the Longview area may submit nominations for the awards.
Where are the nominations to be sent?
Nominations must be submitted to the Attn: Small Business Awards Committee, Longview Chamber of Commerce, 410 N Center St., Longview TX, 75601.
What is the deadline for nominations?
All nominations for must be postmarked or hand delivered to the Longview Chamber no later than April 15, 2011.
Where and when is the award Luncheon?
The awards luncheon is Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center. Tickets are $25 (member rate) or $50 (non-member) per person or corporate tables may be purchased for $250 (member rate) or $400 (non-member).
When is the Award Winner Notified?
Award winners will be contacted no later than April 29, 2011.
