Gift of Love: Kacy and Deris

Kacy, Deris and I met up at Chuck E. Cheese for an afternoon of fun and games.

This brother and sister team love competition, especially, 12 year old Kacy.

"I tried for all the sports. I tried out for cross country, I did volleyball. I tried out for basketball but didn't make it and I'm doing track right now and after track I'm doing tennis," Kacy said.

When not playing sports, Kacy's favorite thing to do is hang out with her friends. "We watch movies and go a outside and play and stuff like that...we mostly run around because we are in athletics and we like running," Kacy said.

As for school, Kacy is in the seventh grade and makes As and B's. "I like math and language arts and athletics and sometimes science, " Kacy said. In fact, Kacy says she wants to be a surgeon when she grows up!

Kacy also enjoys going to church and is apart of the youth group.

When talking with Kacy about her forever family, she says she looks forward to having a family in her cheering section during sporting events and to taking family vacations.

"I want to go to Hawaii," Kacy said, where she hopes to play in the waves on the beach.

When it comes to Kacy's brother Deris, she has had to play the role of mother in the past.  Now, she is enjoying being a sister.

"He's fun, he gets very, very hyper. he likes playing sports, he likes running. he's awesome," Kacy said.

9 year old Deris is full of life! He is a third grader and is primarily an A and B student. Deris does well in school and makes friends easily.

"We do reading, social studies, we do writing. We do a lot," Deris said.

Deris needs assistance in remembering instructions or details of his assignments and responds well to reminders.

Like his sister Kacy, Deris likes to play sports, especially soccer!

"We won all of our games!," Deris said.

At times Deris can be very active and hyper.  He needs to be kept busy where he can work off a lot of his energy. Soccer is the perfect solution!

Deris is very patriotic when it comes to his favorite colors.

"Red, white and blue!," Deris said.

As for his three wishes, it's really more like 4 or 5 or maybe even 6!

"I get a motorcycle, a four wheeler and a truck and a car and a truck and everything else," Deris said.

Pretty much anything with wheels interests Deris.

These siblings are lucky enough to be placed together in foster care.  They are very bonded to each other and there is a strong need for them to be adopted together into a family that can show Kacy and Deris the Gift of Love.
