WHITEHOUSE, TX (KLTV) – Whitehouse ISD is conduction an investigation after one of their school buses reportedly ran off the side of the road and into a ditch.

KLTV was on the scene of Wednesday's accident near Paluxy Drive in Smith County.

On Thursday, Whitehouse ISD and DPS officials continue to investigate the accident.

Assistant Superintendent Richard Peacock says after being pulled off its route and spending time in the shop Thursday morning, they found that the bus didn't need any repairs after all.

And while it didn't run this morning, he says it did run its normal route today after school.

Peacock says all 43 passengers on the bus, including the driver were not hurt, but parents are still expressing some concerns about how the situation was handled.

"I feel like all those kids that were there should have been contained until it was understood which way they should go, if they could walk, that was fine," says Peacock.

"All students were evacuated without incident and a relief bus was sent to pick up those students to deliver them home," he explained.

Peacock says the bus, like many others doesn't stop at all this kids' homes.

It stops at specific points where it drops kids off. Some of those kids already have to walk a couple blocks to get home.

In this case, some did just that. Some had parents to pick them up, and others waited for a bus to be dispatched.

Whitehouse ISD says the DPS did investigate the incident and no citations were issued.
