Man shoots driver, daughter after car wreck

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WECT) - Police in Fayetteville say a man shot several rounds into a vehicle, wounding a father and his 7-year-old daughter several times after a traffic accident Tuesday night.

The situation took place around 9:30pm Tuesday in the area of Bragg Boulevard and William Clark Road in Fayetteville.

Police say Eric Jones Jr., 21, rear ended a vehicle on Bragg Boulevard, then got out of his car and ran to the victims vehicle, where police indicate he pulled a .22 caliber revolver and started shooting into the vehicle.  Derrick Kelly and his two daughters, ages 4 and 7, were inside.  Kelly was hit three times.  His 7-year-old daughter was shot four times.  None of those wounds are considered life-threatening.  The 4-year-old was not injured.

Police arrested Jones Jr. and charged him with two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill and Inflict Serious Injury.  He's currently in the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

Jones Jr. is a convicted felon, serving time for breaking and entering and larceny from 2007.
