2 Bullard boys receive praise for extinguishing fire

BULLARD, TX (KLTV) - They started the day playing baseball, and by the end, two East Texas boys had helped to stop a fire.

Investigators in Bullard say the two ten-year-olds noticed a fire breaking out on Monday in an empty lot in the Legacy Estates subdivision.

Aaron Smith describes what he saw, "All I saw was a bunch of black clouds just really big." His friend Dakotah Walsworth agreed by saying, "When you saw it burning, it was higher than the roof of a house."

Walsworth immediately ran home to have his mom call 911. Then he quickly ran back outside to help his friend put out the fire.

Smith says, "I ran over there and he held the back of the hose while I just drenched it with water." Walsworth seemed pretty impressed this all happened very fast, " We turned it on and hooked it up and put down the fire before the fire department got there."

Not knowing if they did the right thing, they say it was nice to hear the Bullard Fire Department compliment them on their bravery.

And now, firefighters, parents, and the boys themselves, are all proud that they made the right choice, and everyone made it out ok.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Bullard firefighters are calling it suspicious.
