Services In Diana For Texarkana Shooting Victim

Hundreds packed into the First Baptist Church of Diana to say their good byes to 24 year old Rebecca Shifflett who was killed in the Texarkana shootings last Monday.

"All that really can be said is I know that Rebecca loved hanging out with her friends loved her job but most of all loved her family" said Reverend Gary May as he addressed those in attendance. In a quiet ceremony with very little commentary, Rebecca and her daughter Lillian were remembered together for what might have been.

"I'm not happy about it , angry about it, but all of y'all wouldn't be here if you didn't love her" said Rebecca's father Billy Shifflett.

"I just remember that she was a lovely girl, how many friends showed up and her family and her mother were very proud of her such a bright future" family friend Suzy Thompson said. Family and friends adorned her casket with flowers and pictures they had taken with Rebecca.

Many reflected on the impact that one person can have on so many in a short life. Though she never had a chance to hold her child, Rebecca was laid to rest with Lillian in her arms.  They were buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Hughes Springs.
