Proposition 12 is a constitutional amendment that puts a cap on non-economic damages in a medical malpractice case.

Non-economic damages are things like pain and suffering, or mental anguish.

If proposition 12 passes, it would make the $250,000 cap the legislature put into law this session, a constitutional amendment.

Many groups like Texans Against Prop. 12, MADD and AARP say they fear this amendment could have very dangerous ramifications for all Texans.
