WHITE OAK, TX (KLTV) - A would be theft of a "mule" takes a turn for the worse when thieves cannot move the utility vehicle off the railroad tracks.
Around 5:00 am, Tuesday, an eastbound freight train was rounding a bend in the White Oak area, when the engineer saw a small utility vehicle on the tracks. Unable to stop, the train dragged the "mule" valued at more than $10,000, down the tracks.
Investigator, Ferris Ellis, says the suspects entered into Sigmon Construction in the 700 block of Superior, in White Oak, by laying down chains over a fence next to the tracks.
The suspects took two vehicles. The other vehicle was recovered near the tracks.
The mule was left a mangled piece of metal, but no one was injured in the incident.
