Rusk Co. authorities searching for stolen horses

RUSK COUNTY - The Rusk County Crime Stoppers and Rusk County Sheriff's Office is reaching out to the citizens of Rusk County and surrounding areas asking for information related to two horses which were taken from a residence on FM 1251E, in the Church Hill area of Rusk County.

The horses were taken sometime between February 25, 2011 approximately 4:30pm and February 26, 2011, 5:30pm. The owner discovered a gate in the southwest pasture which had been removed by unknown subject(s) by sliding the gate off the hinges. After checking their horses they discovered two gelded horses were missing from the pasture.

One of the horses missing is Chaco, 20 yrs old, black Tennessee Walker, 15 hands tall, and approximately 1,100 pounds. Chaco has a white star on his face. The second horse is Sonny, 20 yrs old, Sorrel Quarter Horse, 16 hands tall, approximately 1,250 pounds. Sonny has a white blazed face, blind in his right eye and the center of his tail has been cut short.

The Rusk County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $1000 for any information leading to safe return or the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the disappearance of Chaco and Sonny. In addition to Crime Stoppers reward, the owners of Chaco and Sonny are offering a reward of $1000 for the safe return or the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the disappearance of their horses.
