Released by Azalea Orthopedics:
TYLER, TX - The Azalea Orthopedics All-Star high school basketball games have been set for April 2, 2011 at the Wagstaff Gymnasium on the Tyler Junior College campus.
The game, which is in its eighth year, is sponsored by Azalea Orthopedics. The Classic gives high school seniors in the East Texas area the opportunity to showcase their talent for colleges and hometown fans. "We are pleased to announce the All-star event has moved to Tyler Junior College. The Gymnasium has a great new look and will bring the fans a little closer to the action on the court," says Dan Fuller, Azalea head athletic trainer and coordinator of the annual event.
"With the history and tradition of Wagstaff Gymnasium and all of the great basketball moments that have happened in Tyler over the years, I think it is fitting that these kids get one more chance to play on the same stage as so many East Texas Basketball Legends." Said Azalea Orthopedics All-star games coach Alan Johnston of Robert E. Lee. Coach Johnston continued, "I was proud to coach in the game and my kids feel honored to get a chance to play in it. This is premier event displays some of the best talent we have to offer in East Texas. As coaches we support the event by nominating our players and Azalea supports us by giving those players one more chance under the light."
Area seniors are nominated by their high school coaches and are selected by an All Star selection panel. "In the past we have had some very talented athletes play in these games and we are very fortunate to continue with that pedigree," explains Fuller. He also added that areas of East and West divide teams geographically.
Girls Games starts at 5:30PM and the Boys game starts at 7:00PM. Doors will open at 5:00PM. Ticket prices are $6.00 for adult and $3.00 for children under the age of 10.
All proceeds from the All-Star game are donated to the Bethesda Clinic.
