Police: Man exposed self, drove car off road twice

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - The Paducah Police Department arrested a man Saturday after he exposed himself to a woman, ran his car off the road twice and then tried to run from police.

Robert A. Powell, 31, of Coronado Court, Paducah, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, two counts of fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, driving under the influence, failure to have an insurance card and disregarding a stop sign. He was also charged in a warrant for second-degree indecent exposure.

Police were first called at 7:36 p.m. when a woman at Coronado Court reported Powell had come to her home trying to sell her a cat. She says when she was looking at the cat, Powell exposed himself to her and she told him to leave, then called police.

At 9:44 p.m. police were called to a one vehicle wreck at 21st and Ohio Streets. The officer reported that a car was driving west on 21st Street when it ran off the road, hit a utility pole and then left the scene.

According to police, less than 10 minutes later the same car ran off the road at 27th and Monroe Streets. The car ended up in the ditch damaging a water meter. The driver, Powell, then ran from the scene on foot and fought officers after they caught him. Officers had to use a Taser to subdue him.

Powell was taken to Western Baptist Hospital to treat his injuries from the car wrecks and then was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
