RUSK, TX (KLTV)- There are strange details surrounding an East Texas man who pleaded guilty to making threats against the President of the United States of America.

While in court, federal prosecutors say 28-year-old Robert Lee Berkley told them he had plans to eat the President and the First Lady.

When asked if Berkley wanted to retract that statement, prosecutors say Berkley said "Oh, no. I'm gonna eat 'em".

In a taped audio recording from Berkley's plea hearing, Berkley said he suffers from post traumatic stress disorder and paranoid schizophrenia. Berkley also said he only made it to the sixth grade because he was kicked out due to disciplinary reasons.

Berkley said he can read, but compared his writing to that of a five-year-old.

Berkley pleaded guilty on Feb. 23, 2011, to making threats against the President before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.

According to information presented in court, on June 16, 2010, Berkley, who was incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), Hodge Unit, located in Rusk, Texas, wrote a letter claiming that upon his release from TDCJ, he planned to travel to Washington, D.C., in order to kill President Barack Obama and the first family.  Berkley confirmed his plan during at least two separate interviews with law enforcement officers.  He was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 14, 2010.

Berkley faces up to five years in federal prison at sentencing.  A sentencing date has not been set.

This case is being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher T. Tortorice.

A sentencing date has not been set.
