WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Preparation is already underway in parts of East Texas for a somber welcome home.

This weekend at Dover Air Force Base an Army team is transferring the remains of Staff Sergeant Chauncey Ryan Mays. Mays was killed while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

The 25 year old grew up outside Mt. Pleasant in Titus County.  Sgt. Mays's remains will first be flown to Greenville, from there, a procession escorted by Patriot Guard riders, deputies, and police will head East on Interstate 30.

They'll jump off on Highway 19 South in Sulphur Springs, then make a left turn onto the Highway 11 extension and on into Winnsboro to Beaty Funeral Home.

Unfortunately, the exact time of Sgt. Mays's arrival has not been released by the military. His body is expected back in East Texas, sometime this week.
